Summary description of the position

Under the joint authority of the Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Action (COCAC) and the Board of Directors (CA) of the Alliance française de Maseru, a non-profit association under local law, you are responsible for the execution of the establishment project, while ensuring the proper functioning and development of the Alliance as well as the monitoring of all the actions carried out there, in accordance with local laws. Three months after taking office, you will receive your mission letter co-signed by the Directorate-General for Globalization, the President of the Alliance, and the Fondation des Alliances françaises. No later than six months after taking up your position, you will have to present a project for the establishment and an action plan that will cover the duration of your mission.

Main activities

In this context, you will have to:

  • Develop, propose and promote the school’s strategy, in conjunction with the Cooperation and Cultural Action Advisor (COCAC) and in accordance with the priorities of action of the position in the educational fields (partnership subject to an agreement between the Alliance française (AF) and the Service of Cooperation and Cultural Action (SCAC) of Pretoria relating to educational cooperation in Lesotho), cultural, cooperation or development;
  • Participate in the development of the budget, the management of personnel, and the implementation of analysis, monitoring, and evaluation tools in conjunction with the Board of Directors and the SCAC.
  • Implement the priorities set by the Embassy and the Board of Directors.

  • Organize events and demonstrations
  • Establish close relations with professional networks and the authorities of the country to promote the establishment
  • Seek funding and raise funds from public and private donors
  • Ensure the follow-up of the “Ouh la la Café” and the new bar “Le petit Paris”
  • Manage risks and ensure the application of safety instructions
  • Inform, alert, and submit regular activity reports (contextual analysis, registrations, state of finances, etc.) to the Board of Directors and the SCAC which ensures the coordination of the Southern African FAs.

Diplomas or professional experience are recommended to perform the duties.

  • Master 2 Diploma of Aptitude for the Management of Cultural and Educational Organizations (DAMOCE), Managerial experience, if possible, as director of Alliance Française. DELF DALF A1 to C2 accreditation + TEF TCF accreditation.
  • Knowledge or proficiency in a local language would be an asset. Knowledge of the region as well.
