Job Role

We have a vacancy for the position of Software Developer at the Maseru Head Office. Reporting to the Head: Projects and Innovation, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the development, security, and scalability of our digital platforms. The ideal candidate must have strong Java programming skills, a solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, and hands-on experience with AWS cloud computing.

Key Responsibility Areas

• Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using Java.
• Contribute to secure software architecture and apply cybersecurity best practices.
• Deploy, manage, and support applications on AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimise application performance.
• Ensure data security, system availability, and compliance with internal policies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system enhancements and new features.

Qualifications, Experience & Competencies

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• At least 2 years’ experience in software development.
• Strong proficiency in Java programming.
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity concepts (secure coding, authentication, access control, data protection).
• Experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, Lambda – or similar).
• Experience in fintech, financial systems, or transactional platforms.
• Knowledge of APIs and microservices architecture.
• Exposure to DevOps or CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of regulatory or data protection requirements.
• Familiarity with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL).
• Experience using version control tools (e.g. Git).

Added Advantage

• Experience in fintech, financial systems, or transactional platforms.
• Knowledge of APIs and microservices architecture.
• Exposure to DevOps or CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of regulatory or data protection requirements.
